New Door, New Skirt and Old Skills

We have thought our front door was super boring ever since we moved in, but have debated and debated on what to do about it. I finally got brave and splashed some nice bright paint on there. We had a moment where we almost went super trendy with a teal, but I’m glad we reigned it in a little.

(P.S. That planter box is getting a make over very soon, hence the emptiness.)

I finally found the guts to try this tutorial. I’m not in love with the tutorial (lots of gaps), but as you can see I figured it out. I’m pretty excited about it!

In other random news I whipped out the old unicycle after my bike tires called it quits this weekend.

(don’t worry Brandon already fixed them- darn nails!)

Yep, I’ve still got skills!

Back in time…

Oh wait, you mean Easter was almost a month ago?

We’ve been just a little busy around here and I was looking through our camera memory card and realized we’ve missed a lot! Plus Easter is my very favorite, bonus it fell right by my birthday this year- sweetness!

We enjoyed a lovely sacrament meeting and I even got a break from nursery. There had been a miscommunication in our stake and they thought there was some sort of broadcast so they canceled the rest of our meetings.

We started the morning with a little egg hunt.

There was even a special little Easter Bunny waiting for me in the back yard.

We made a lovely Easter dinner. We even did a whole ham, yeah it’s still in our freezer. We might not have thought that one quite through all the way, but boy did it smell tasty as we walked in from church! I also made my Grandma’s famous rolls. They still aren’t as good as hers, but I’m getting better.

My family always got new Easter dresses growing up and I loved it! Many years my grandma even made beautiful, matching dresses for us. In our adult life Brandon and I have gotten new easter digs every other year. I love giraffe print! This is not a great picture of my dress, but I’m in love!

Got to love the self portraits oh man!

We spent the rest of the day enjoying watching Easter videos from lds.org, talking with family and basking in the glory of our Easter feast! Next year we must invite guests to share. Like I said there is still ham in our freezer! One of these days we’ll get to the bone for pea soup!

I hope you all had a very lovely Easter and that your month since then has also been equally fabulous!

USAA Culture Fest

Every year USAA does a big spring party. Complete with entertainment, lots of food, a variety of jumping castles and fireworks. This years theme was a culture fest. We had a blast hanging out with these guys:

I have to say it: “Get that corn out of my face!”

We even saw some crazy animals and checked out the sights from around the world.

We sure love a party in the USAA:)

P.S. Thanks for your concern and sympathy about the camera “incident”. I took it to a camera repair shop this morning and they think they can fix it for $215, without any new parts. That’s two hundred bucks I wasn’t wanting to spend, but at least it’s fixable. I’m just holding my breath hoping they don’t find anything else wrong!

In other news…

Ok I have so much to do and no time! I really should not be blogging, but I just have to get this off my chest! These punks knocked my camera off the counter today:

(don’t they just look mean and plotting in this pic!)

Tears were shed. I’m crushed. Yes, I know it’s just a thing and hopefully (cross your fingers for me) it can be repaired, but it was an expensive, waited a long time, finally was figuring out how to use, made the switch to manual, got photography lessons for my birthday thing and I just need to be sad for a minute.

Ok I feel a smidge better, thanks for letting me vent! I have so much more to blog about and some decent pictures from our latest adventures to post, but those will have to wait. Dance costumes are calling!

Birthday Girls

A few weeks ago Camille and I enjoyed a night out complete with trips to the nail salon and “the mothership”, aka Target! We were admiring all the lovely white dishes and both came away with the same idea! Great minds really do think alike I guess. We both thought we were so clever to remember something the other had liked:) We had a dinner this week to celebrate her moving, although I’m rather sad about it. We had to laugh when we both walked in carrying a beautiful white pitcher tied in cute bows. I’m loving the white pitcher and it’s currently on my counter with some nice purple, green and white spring flowers!

Thanks Camille!

Spring Craftiness

Ok, so I have no time and no energy and like a million things to do- not a good combo. Wasn’t this years one and only goal to simplify? What the heck happened?! Sort of feel like I’m treading water endlessly trying to stay afloat. Anyone remember how bad a swimmer I am?! Anyone want to be my assistant? Anyway, I’ve made some promises that I would post some pictures of my spring crafts. So here you go. Please don’t judge I snapped pictures and tossed this post together in like a grand total of 3 seconds, cause really that’s all the time I have!

This is how I feel about the current state of my life:

Ok, so really that’s just me after my dance class, but still.

***Most of the craft ideas were inspired by or straight up copied from thriftydecorchick.blogspot.com or auntilolocrafts.blogspot.com. They are both fabulous you should check them out!***

Updated

This year spring fever hit me in the form of craftiness! I’ve been busy with lots of fun spring decor. I’ll share that later, but I thought I’d share a free little phone cover update I finally checked off my list. This sad sad, but free, phone cover was not the best from the beginning, but quickly has fallen into even deeper sadness.

Some modge podge, cute scrapbook paper and some tracing later I get very excited to answer the phone! Ok so my phone rings so little I get excited any time it rings, but I’m sort of loving the little bee I carry in my pocket all day. I’d like to think it’s reminding me to “Bee Positive” or maybe just “Bee” realistic and just say no sometimes, alas it has yet to have this power over me. It does, however, make me smile!

Kitties & Kids

This girl always knows when I’m not feeling great. A few weeks ago I was curled up reading, pretty much dead to the world and she snuggled right in- just the buddy I needed!

FYI: I probably wash that massive pink quilt more than anything in my house; I use it all the time! My sweet grandma made it for me when I was moving to the frozen north (Logan, Utah). It’s massive and soft and I love curling up in it.

In other news: A few weeks ago we got to hang out with this cute kid while her parents went out of town for a few days.

Doesn’t Brandon look great holding a kid!
